    Dr. Sara Zeff Geber, 2018 recipient of the “Influencers in Aging” designation by PBS’ Next Avenue, is an author, certified retirement coach, and professional speaker on retirement and aging. She has developed a niche specialty working with “Solo Agers,” people who have no children or who are aging alone.

    Essential Retirement Planning for Solo Agers was selected in 2018 as one of the “best books on aging well” by the Wall Street Journal.

    Dr. Geber has made raising awareness of the special challenges of baby boomers aging without adult children (“Solo Agers”) her personal crusade, speaking and writing to financial planners, gerontology professionals, developers, lawmakers, and others who play a role in the aging of America. With the popularity of Essential Retirement Planning for Solo Agers, Sara believes the issue of Solo Aging will become more visible in the aging community and among those who serve them.

    Sara is a regular contributor to Forbes.com on the topics of aging and retirement and is a fellow at Nexus Insights, a think tank and incubator for revolutionary concepts in senior living and aging.

    Though married, Sara considers herself a Solo Ager, since she has no children. She lives with her husband and pooch in Sonoma County, California.

    Sara has a Ph.D. in Counseling and Organizational Behavior, an M.A. in Guidance and Counseling, and a B.A in Psychology. A native of the United States and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sara is an active member of the Life Planning Network (LPN), and is on the leadership team for the NorCal chapter of LPN. She is also active in The Transition Network, a national organization that supports women over 50 as they go through life’s journey. She lives with her husband and their canine companion in Santa Rosa, California.
